This policy explains how IA COMPA LLC handles information in the WasThat app (macOS). It applies to WasThat specifically; our website has its own privacy policy.
What WasThat handles
- App and process names, bundle identifiers, audio activity times and durations
- Selected notification status, sender and suppression details when macOS provides them
- Local detector status and duplicate-prevention identifiers
- Information you choose to send when requesting support
Where your data lives
Activity metadata stays in ~/Library/Application Support/WasThat/events.sqlite. Detector status is stored in the same local folder. WasThat removes records older than seven days when detection starts, then checks every ten minutes while running. Cleanup can be delayed while detection is off or storage is unavailable. History ranges cover the last hour, 24 hours or seven days, with up to 2,000 stored events per view.
Detection controls and data scope
Open WasThat, then choose Start detection if it is off. If macOS needs approval for background activity, the app links to Login Items. Use Stop detection to stop collection. Closing or quitting the app keeps detection running when it is enabled.
WasThat uses system audio activity and selected notification log metadata. It does not record audio or save notification titles or message bodies. Notification history and sender information can be incomplete.
Service providers
- GitHub — hosts downloads and source code, and receives ordinary browser connection information when you open its pages or download a release; WasThat does not upload event data to GitHub (provider information).
About this preview
- The app has no telemetry, account or cloud event upload.
- Support is optional. Remove personal information from logs or screenshots before sharing them.
Your choices
Choose Stop detection and wait for Detection is off before managing local data. Quit WasThat, then delete ~/Library/Application Support/WasThat/ to remove stored activity and status. Deleting the application alone does not remove this folder. Saved detection preferences and macOS background-item settings are separate. For questions, email apps@iacompa.com.
Children
WasThat is intended for a general audience and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
