What changed with GLM-4.5
On July 28, 2025, Z.ai introduced GLM-4.5 and GLM-4.5-Air. GLM-4.5 has 355 billion total and 32 billion active parameters; Air has 106 billion total and 12 billion active. Both are hybrid reasoning models with a thinking mode for complex reasoning and tool use and a non-thinking mode for instant replies.
Z.ai said GLM-4.5 ranked third overall across 12 agentic, reasoning and coding benchmarks against models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI and others, with a 128K context window and native function calling. In its own tests inside Claude Code, GLM-4.5 reported a 90.6% tool-calling success rate. The models are on the Z.ai API with open weights on Hugging Face and ModelScope; the Hugging Face repository lists an MIT license.
