This policy explains how IA COMPA LLC handles information in the Clink app (Chrome, Firefox, Safari). It applies to Clink specifically; our website has its own privacy policy.
What Clink handles
- Web addresses of the pages and links you open, and URLs you copy from a page, which Clink checks inside your browser for known tracking tags
- Your settings, paused sites, sites Link Guard remembered, and counters such as links cleaned and trackers removed
- For the current browser session only, the state of open tabs and the popup’s list of recent cleanings
- Information you choose to send when requesting support
Where your data lives
Everything Clink keeps stays on your device, in your browser’s extension storage. Settings, paused sites, sites Link Guard remembered and counters use storage.local. The state of open tabs, including the original and cleaned address of a page Clink cleaned, and the popup’s list of up to 30 recent cleanings, with site names and the tags removed, use storage.session, which lasts only for the current browser session. Clink does not upload or sync any of it.
How cleaning works
Clink removes known tracking tags in two places, both inside your browser. Its network rules, built from lists shipped with the extension, rewrite an address before the request is sent. Its page script rewrites links as pages load and when you click them, and cleans URLs you copy. Neither sends addresses anywhere.
Link Guard, in Chrome and Firefox only, watches the outcome of navigations Clink cleaned, such as an error status or a redirect, so it can reopen the original link if a cleaned page fails to load. Link Guard never reads page content and never blocks or changes requests.
Installing from a store
When Clink is listed on the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons or the App Store, the store you install it from handles the download and updates under its own privacy policy. Clink itself still sends nothing.
Service providers
- GitHub — hosts Clink’s source code and receives ordinary browser connection information when you open its pages; Clink itself sends nothing to GitHub (provider information).
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- We don’t use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
Your choices
Pause Clink on a site, or turn it off, from its popup or Settings. In Settings you can remove paused sites, undo sites Link Guard remembered and reset the counters; Clear in the popup empties the recent list. Removing Clink from Chrome or Firefox deletes its extension storage. In Safari, turn Clink off in Safari’s extension settings or delete the Clink app. For questions, email apps@iacompa.com.
Children
Clink is intended for a general audience and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; we’ll change the “Last updated” date above when we do.
