Where can I install Clink?

Clink is being submitted to the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons and the App Store, for Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Install buttons will appear on the Clink page when each listing is live. Until then, the GitHub repository has the source code and instructions for building the extension and loading it yourself.

How do I turn Clink on in Safari?

After installing the Clink app on iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions (on iOS 17: Settings → Safari → Extensions), tap Clink, turn it on and set All Websites to Allow. On a Mac, open Safari → Settings → Extensions, turn on Clink and choose Always Allow on Every Website.

Will Clink break links?

Accepted Answer

It is built not to. Clink removes only parameters on its list of known trackers and keeps search terms, product options, timestamps, gift links and invite codes. It never touches unsubscribe links, sign-in and checkout pages, signed download links or local sites. In Chrome and Firefox, Link Guard reopens the original link if a cleaned one fails to load and stops cleaning that site. Safari has no Link Guard; pause the site from the popup instead.

A page doesn’t work after Clink cleaned its link. What can I do?

Open the Clink popup and choose Reload with the original link, or pause Clink on that site. Then email apps@iacompa.com or open an issue on GitHub with the full link, with anything private removed, so we can look at it.

Can I keep affiliate codes or pause Clink on a site?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In Settings, turn off Affiliate & referral codes to keep codes such as Amazon’s tag= so creators get credit. Pause Clink on a site with the site switch in the popup, or add the site under Sites where Clink is paused in Settings.

Does Clink collect or send my data?

Accepted Answer

No. Clink runs entirely in your browser, with no account, analytics, ads or server, and makes no network requests of its own. Settings, paused sites, sites Link Guard remembered and counters stay in your browser’s extension storage on your device. The privacy page has the details.

Is Clink free, and where is the source code?

Accepted Answer

Clink is free, with no in-app purchases or ads, and open source under GPL-3.0-or-later. The source code is on GitHub at github.com/iacompa/Clink, and the app page links the license. Bug reports and pull requests are welcome there.
