What changed with Anthropic Claude
On March 14, 2023, Anthropic announced broader access to Claude, its AI assistant, after months of closed alpha testing with partners. Two versions launched: Claude, the high-performance model, and Claude Instant, a lighter option that was faster and less expensive. Both were offered through a chat interface and an API in Anthropic's developer console.
Anthropic pitched Claude for summarization, search, writing, question answering and coding, and named early users including Notion AI, Quora's Poe app, DuckDuckGo's DuckAssist, Juni Learning, Robin AI for legal contracts and AssemblyAI.
