What changed with Claude 3.7 Sonnet

On February 24, 2025, Anthropic released Claude 3.7 Sonnet, which it described as the first hybrid reasoning model on the market. One model offers both a standard mode and an extended thinking mode, and API users can cap how many tokens it spends thinking, up to 128K output tokens.

Pricing stayed at $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, with thinking tokens billed as output. The model became available on all Claude plans (extended thinking excluded on Free), the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI. Anthropic also opened a limited research preview of Claude Code, a command-line agent that can search and edit code, run tests and push to GitHub.
