What changed with Claude Opus 4.5

Claude Opus 4.5 arrived on the Claude apps, the Claude API and the three major cloud platforms. Anthropic reported state-of-the-art results on SWE-bench Verified and gains over Sonnet 4.5 on several coding and agent tests, along with a new effort parameter that trades depth of reasoning against token use.

The launch also shipped product updates: Plan Mode in Claude Code, Claude Code inside the desktop app, automatic summarization for long chats, and wider access to Claude for Chrome and Claude for Excel.
