Runway releases Gen-4.5 video model, topping Artificial Analysis leaderboard

Gen-4.5 at a glance

Runway's Gen-4.5 text-to-video model ranked first on the Artificial Analysis Text-to-Video leaderboard at launch and is included in all paid Runway plans.

What changed with Gen-4.5

Runway introduced Gen-4.5 on December 1, 2025, a video generation model focused on prompt adherence, realistic motion, and visual consistency across photorealistic and stylized looks. Runway says objects move with believable weight and momentum and that fine details like hair and fabric stay coherent over time.

At launch, Runway reported Gen-4.5 in first place on the Artificial Analysis Text-to-Video leaderboard with 1,247 Elo points as of November 30, 2025, ahead of Veo 3, Kling 2.5, and Sora 2 Pro. It is included in all paid Runway plans, and Runway's changelog added Gen-4.5 image-to-video on January 21, 2026.

Why Gen-4.5 matters for businesses

Runway also lists known weaknesses: effects can appear before their causes, objects can vanish or appear between frames, and actions succeed more often than they realistically would. For ad and product video work, human review remains part of the workflow.
