What changed with Grok 4.7
xAI released Grok 4.7 on September 21, 2026 as its most capable model for coding and knowledge work. xAI says it is built on a larger base model than Grok 4.6, with a longer reinforcement learning run on harder tasks, better self-verification, and native understanding of the Grok Bot agent harness.
The API model grok-4.7 has a 500k-token context window, text and image input, and reasoning effort up to xhigh. Pricing stays at $2 input and $6 output per 1M tokens under 200k prompt tokens. A Fast variant at twice the price is limited to Cursor and Grok Build. xAI's own tables show it ahead on some agent and legal tests and behind a rival on others.

Grok 4.7 reasoning effort
Artificial Analysis tests this model at several reasoning-effort settings. Higher effort usually scores higher but costs more and answers more slowly.
Grok 4.7 by effort level
Higher effort lets the model think longer. Here is what each setting scores, how fast it writes, and what it costs on Artificial Analysis.
