Grok 4.5 at a glance
Grok 4.5 arrived as xAI's new top model, trained alongside Cursor and priced at $2/$6 per 1M input/output tokens on the API.
What changed with Grok 4.5
xAI released Grok 4.5 on July 16, 2026, describing it as built for coding, agentic tasks, and knowledge work. It became the default model in Grok Build, was offered in Cursor on all plans, and is available on the API as grok-4.5.
The announcement claims about 80 tokens per second and much lower output-token use than a competing model on SWE-Bench Pro tasks. Its own benchmark tables are mixed: Grok 4.5 leads on one long-running coding test but trails other frontier models on several others.
