On October 20, 2026, ElevenLabs introduced Eleven Realtime, a speech-to-speech model family for voice agents with two tiers: v1 Mini for lower-cost everyday conversations and v1 Max for multi-step workflows and heavier tool use. The models use a cascaded design whose speech recognition, turn-taking, language model, and speech output are tuned together, so builders do not have to tune each piece themselves.
Because each step still produces text, teams can see what the agent heard and decided, and ElevenAgents guardrails and PII redaction still apply. ElevenLabs reports an average time to first audio of 0.57 seconds for Max and 0.62 seconds for Mini, support for more than 90 languages, and access to its library of more than 17,000 voices.
