What changed with Kimi K3.1 Pro
On October 23, 2026, Moonshot AI released Kimi K3.1 Pro, the first model in its K3.1 series and a post-trained version of Kimi K3. The Hugging Face model card lists a mixture-of-experts model with 2.8T total and 104B active parameters, a 1,048,576-token context, text and image input, and weights trained and shipped in MXFP4. It is available in Kimi.ai, the mobile apps, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and the Kimi API as kimi-k3.1-pro, plus kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed, which Moonshot says runs 2 to 3 times faster.
Moonshot published the weights on Hugging Face on November 4, 2026 under the Kimi K3.1-Pro License. It is a permissive MIT-style license, but businesses selling model-as-a-service with more than $20M in revenue over 12 months need a separate agreement, and products above 100M monthly users or $20M in monthly revenue must display the model name. The API exposes a reasoning_effort setting of low, high, or max, with max as the default.
Moonshot-reported results include 65.7% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, against 66.4% it lists for Claude Opus 5.5, and a claim-level hallucination rate of 8.3% with tools, down from 23.4% for K3. Moonshot says it removed cyber-attack data from mid-training and reinforcement learning to limit offensive capability. These are vendor-reported figures.
