Tencent releases Hy4 with image understanding and computer use; open weights promised "in the coming days"

On November 4, 2026, Tencent announced Hy4, the full release of the model it previewed in August as Hy4 Preview. The preview was a Mixture-of-Experts model with 770B total parameters, 49B active per token and a context window above 1M tokens; its weights were published on Hugging Face under an Apache 2.0 license. Tencent's announcement presents Hy4 as an open-source model, but as of November 7, 2026, the full Hy4 weights are not published: Tencent says the weights and system cards will follow "in the coming days", and Artificial Analysis lists the model as proprietary until then.

Two capabilities are new to the line. Hy4 reads images, including charts and visual math problems, and it can operate a computer through the command line and graphical interfaces; Tencent says it trained this on software such as Blender and CAD tools. Tencent also reports gains in instruction following, long-context work, finance, front-end and game development, and fewer hallucinations: in its own tests the rate fell from 12.95% in Hy4 Preview to 7.2%. These figures, and the finance and agent-task scores in the announcement, are Tencent's own evaluations and have not been independently reproduced.

Artificial Analysis gives Hy4 35 on its Intelligence Index v5.0.1, below the median of 37 for comparable models it tracks (as of November 7, 2026), with a 1,048,576-token context window and prices of about $0.83 per million input tokens and $2.50 per million output tokens. The model is available in Tencent Cloud TokenHub, WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy, Yuanbao and WeCom, and Tencent says third-party access through OpenRouter and others is being added. A smaller, cheaper Hy4 Flash was announced alongside it.

Tencent also says it trained Hy4 on defensive security data and kept exploit-development material out of the training set, and that its own security labs found no significant concerns about offensive cyber capabilities in the areas they tested. Reuters reported the same approach and that a safety report would come with the weights.
