How do I install Spledio?

Choose Download for Mac on the Spledio page to get Spledio-macOS-arm64.dmg, version 1.3. Open the downloaded file, drag Spledio into Applications and open it from there. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app. If you have an earlier version, replace it. Spledio needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) and macOS 15 or later.

How do I check that my download is genuine?

Only download Spledio from this site or the official GitHub releases. Each release lists the file’s SHA-256 checksum. To compare, run shasum -a 256 Spledio-macOS-arm64.dmg in Terminal.

How do I turn one sound down?

Accepted Answer

Open the recording and draw a box around the sound. In the small level bar next to the box, click − to make it quieter or + to make it louder, 1 dB per click; drag the slider or click Silence to go further. With the spectrogram clicked first, ↓ and ↑ change the level by 1 dB, Shift+↓ and Shift+↑ by 6 dB, and 0 silences it. Press Space to listen: S plays only the selection, and D plays exactly what the last edit removed.

Can I change or undo an edit later?

Yes. Every adjusted area stays outlined with its name and level. Click inside it to change it again, or press Delete to remove its change: the audio there comes back exactly. ⌘Z undoes up to 200 steps. Show / Hide next to Adjusted areas in the bar under the spectrogram, or Shift+H, hides the outlines without changing the sound.

Which files can Spledio open and export?

It opens WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, CAF and other formats, and never changes your original file. An MP3 without length information is refused with a message; convert such a file to WAV or FLAC first. Export Audio (⌘E) writes WAV (16-bit, 24-bit or 32-bit float) or FLAC (16 or 24-bit). Export to AIFF, OGG or MP3 is not available yet.

The arrow keys do nothing, or I hear no sound. What can I check?

Click the spectrogram first so it has keyboard focus; arrow keys inside lists and number boxes keep working as usual. Spledio plays through the Mac’s current output: check System Settings → Sound → Output and the volume slider in the toolbar, then press Play again.

Is there a version for Windows, Linux or Intel Macs?

Not as a ready-made app yet. The download needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later. There is no Windows or Linux installer; you can run Spledio from the source code by following the README on GitHub, but Windows and Linux have not been tested yet.

How much memory does Spledio need?

Long files use a lot of memory. In version 1.3, a 60-minute file opens in about 2.9 GB and needs up to about 6 GB while a long area is applied.

Does Spledio collect or upload my audio?

Accepted Answer

No. Spledio has no account, no analytics, no network code and no telemetry, and it works without an internet connection. Your audio and projects stay on your Mac. The privacy page has the details.

Open an issue at github.com/iacompa/Spledio/issues or email apps@iacompa.com. Include your Spledio version (Help → About), your macOS version and the steps that cause the problem. Issues on GitHub are public, so leave out private recordings. Press F1 in Spledio for its built-in tutorials; the full user manual is on GitHub, linked from the Spledio page.

Is Spledio free, and where is the source code?

Yes. Spledio is free and open source under the GNU General Public License, version 3 only (GPL-3.0-only). The source code of version 1.3 is the v1.3 tag on GitHub, also attached to the release as Spledio-1.3-source.tar.gz; the app page links it and the license. Help → Licenses and Notices in the app shows every license text, including those of the LGPL libraries it includes.
