Linux Foundation forms the Agentic AI Foundation with MCP, goose, and AGENTS.md

Agentic AI Foundation at a glance

The Linux Foundation launched the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as a neutral home for Anthropic's Model Context Protocol, Block's goose, and OpenAI's AGENTS.md.

What changed with Agentic AI Foundation

On December 9, 2025, the Linux Foundation announced the Agentic AI Foundation. Its founding projects are the Model Context Protocol (contributed by Anthropic), goose (contributed by Block), and AGENTS.md (contributed by OpenAI).

Platinum members listed at launch are Amazon Web Services, Anthropic, Block, Bloomberg, Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. The announcement cites more than 10,000 published MCP servers and more than 60,000 open source projects and agent frameworks using AGENTS.md.

Why Agentic AI Foundation matters for businesses

Vendor-neutral governance lowers the risk that the connector standard behind many AI integrations changes direction because of a single company. For agencies building on MCP, it is a signal that integrations written today are more likely to stay portable across AI providers.
