ChatGPT Pro and Business plans now include up to $500 a month in free OpenAI API credits

On October 28, 2026, OpenAI started offering free OpenAI API credits as a benefit of paid ChatGPT Pro and Business subscriptions. Pro gives $100, $200 or $500 a month depending on the tier. Business gives $20 per paid Standard seat and $100 per paid Premium seat, pooled and capped at $500 per workspace per month. The first grant is prorated, credits arrive automatically at each renewal, and unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle without rolling over.

To claim, the subscription must be paid and at least seven days old (trials and complimentary plans don't qualify), and the same person must own both the ChatGPT subscription or workspace and the API organization, using the same email address. Activation works from ChatGPT billing settings or from the API Platform, and no API payment method is needed while credits are active. The credits cover paid API usage, including the Responses, Agents, Decisions, GPT-Live, Realtime and Images APIs, subject to normal rate limits. OpenAI calls this a promotional benefit, available while it lasts.
