Claude adds Personal Finance in beta: read-only bank and card data through Plaid, US only

Personal Finance in Claude at a glance

Pro, Max and Ultra users in the US can link accounts through Plaid and ask Claude about balances, spending and fees. Access is read-only, Claude cannot move money, and Personal Finance conversations are not used for training.

What changed with Personal Finance in Claude

On November 5, 2026, Anthropic began rolling out Personal Finance in Claude as a beta for Pro, Max and Ultra plans in the US. Users link accounts through Plaid, signing in to their bank inside Plaid and approving read-only access; Claude never asks for or sees the bank password.

Claude can then answer questions from balances and up to two years of transactions: totals by category, month-over-month comparisons, possible duplicate charges or unexpected fees, and charts, bill calendars or dashboards. For linked accounts it sees the bank and account name, type, last four digits, balances and credit limits. Anthropic says the feature cannot move, manage or invest money and is not designed to give investment advice.

Conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic's models, and an account can be unlinked at any time. Anthropic also says there are no ads or sponsored recommendations, and it advises checking important numbers against your bank because Claude can make mistakes.

Why Personal Finance in Claude matters for businesses

This is a consumer feature, but it shows the pattern clients will expect from finance and bookkeeping assistants: an aggregator for the connection, read-only scopes, no training on the data and visible sources for every figure. Use the same guardrails when you build similar tools for small businesses.
