What changed with OpenAI Frontier
On February 5, 2026, OpenAI introduced Frontier, a platform for enterprises to build, deploy and manage AI agents, which OpenAI calls AI coworkers. Frontier links data warehouses, CRMs, ticketing tools and internal apps into a shared business context, and gives agents an execution environment where they can work with files, run code and use tools, building memories over time.
Each agent gets its own identity with explicit permissions and guardrails, and built-in evaluation helps teams see what is working. Frontier is built on open standards, works across local, enterprise cloud and OpenAI-hosted runtimes, and is meant to support agents built in-house, bought from OpenAI or brought from other vendors. OpenAI pairs customers with Forward Deployed Engineers and named early adopters including HP, Intuit, Oracle, State Farm, Thermo Fisher and Uber, plus Frontier Partners such as Harvey, Sierra and Decagon.
Frontier launched for a limited set of customers, with broader availability planned over the following months through OpenAI account teams.
