Claude can now operate your Mac in Cowork and Claude Code, with tasks sent from your phone

Claude Cowork at a glance

A research preview lets Claude click, type and navigate apps on your computer when no connector exists. Paired with Dispatch, you can assign the task from your phone and come back to finished work.

What changed with Claude Cowork

On March 23, 2026, Anthropic added computer use to Claude Cowork and Claude Code as a research preview for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers on macOS. Claude first reaches for direct connectors such as Slack or Google Calendar; when none exists, it can control the browser, mouse, keyboard and screen to open files, use websites and run developer tools. It asks permission before accessing new applications, some apps are blocked by default, and you can stop it at any time.

The feature builds on Dispatch, released the week before in Cowork and later in Claude Code, which keeps one continuous conversation with Claude across phone and desktop. You can send a task from your phone, such as a morning briefing or a test run and pull request, and Claude works on your computer while you are away. Anthropic says it scans for prompt injection during computer use and warns that the feature is early, slower than direct integrations and sometimes needs a second try.

Why Claude Cowork matters for businesses

For agencies, this reaches the many tools that have no API, such as legacy back offices and vendor portals. Treat it as a pilot: start with trusted apps, keep sensitive data out of scope, and prefer connectors where they exist.
