Claude in Chrome at a glance
Anthropic's browser agent is now on every paid Claude plan. It can read pages, click, type and fill forms using your logins, and a safety classifier now checks each action so it can work without approval at every step.
What changed with Claude in Chrome
On August 26, 2026, Anthropic made Claude in Chrome generally available on every paid Claude plan, after first launching it as a pilot the year before. The extension lets Claude see the page you are on and take actions such as reading and typing text, clicking links, moving between pages and filling out forms, using your existing logins. It is meant for tools that have no Claude connector, such as internal dashboards, legacy systems and vendor portals.
Claude can now take actions on its own instead of asking for approval each time. Before each action, a safety classifier checks that it is safe and matches your request. Anthropic says it has made Claude more resistant to prompt injection since late 2025 by training on a growing library of attacks and screening web content with probes before Claude acts on it.
Why Claude in Chrome matters for businesses
For agencies, a generally available browser agent makes it practical to automate work in web apps that clients cannot integrate any other way. Because it acts with the user's own logins, set clear limits on which sites and accounts it may use, and keep a person reviewing anything that sends, buys or deletes.
