Meta launches Muse, a personal AI agent that runs on its own secure cloud computer

Meta Muse at a glance

Muse takes on tasks such as email, travel, and shopping from the Muse app or WhatsApp, works in a dedicated virtual machine called Muse Secure VM, and asks for approval before sensitive steps.

What changed with Meta Muse

On September 8, 2026, Meta introduced Muse, a personal AI agent powered by its Muse Spark model. People message it in the Muse app or in WhatsApp, and it can plan toward a goal, open a browser, fill out forms, negotiate, and keep working after the app is closed. It checks back before actions like sending an email or making a purchase and keeps an audit trail of what it did.

Each Muse runs on Muse Secure VM, a dedicated cloud virtual machine that holds the agent plus the person's connected data and credentials. A separate Sentinel agent on the same machine must approve anything that reaches the internet, and Muse uses stored credentials without seeing them. Purchases go through Link by Stripe with one-time card numbers; Meta listed Shop Pay and 1Password support as coming soon and an encrypted Muse Confidential VM for later this year.

Muse launched in the US on iOS, Android, and muse.ai, free for most uses with paid subscription plans for heavier use. At Connect on September 24, Meta added connectors such as Notion, GitHub, Box, Walmart, and PayPal and said Muse is coming to its AI glasses.

Why Meta Muse matters for businesses

This is the agent behind the Muse model line, and it reaches people through WhatsApp, where many small businesses already talk to customers. Agencies should expect customers to arrive through an agent that compares, books, and buys on their behalf, so clear pricing, booking links, and policies matter more than ever.
