On November 4, 2026, the official Grok Bot account on X posted that Grok Bot can now make phone calls, with a demo. In the demo, the bot proposes a call card naming the recipient and dials only after the user taps Call. During the call it shows a live transcript of both sides with Take over and End call buttons, then reports the outcome in chat. Elon Musk first previewed the feature on October 25, saying the bot could call a person or business, take notes and send a summary.
Teslarati reports that calling had been limited to preview builds until November 3 and now reaches all Grok Bot users, for US businesses and US numbers only. It also reports that the bot can wait on hold and navigate phone menus, that it asks the user through an answer box when it needs information, and that Grok Bot's terms require calls to identify it as a virtual assistant and warn that calls may be recorded. xAI has not yet documented the feature in its Grok Bot docs, which list Grok Bot on the Premium, Super and Ultra tiers of The X Subscription.
The launch came days after Musk said on November 1 that serving Grok Bot had been unsustainably costly relative to revenue, after users reported that weekly allowances ran out early. xAI has not said how calls count against the weekly usage pool.
