Web Answer on Amazon Bedrock at a glance

Instead of returning search results, Web Answer plans its own searches, reads pages, and returns a finished answer with a source URL for each claim, called over MCP through an AgentCore Gateway in US East (N. Virginia).

What changed with Web Answer on Amazon Bedrock

On November 5, 2026, AWS made Web Answer on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore generally available. It builds on AgentCore Web Search, which launched in June: Web Search returns ranked links and snippets for your own model to process, while Web Answer runs its own agentic loop, planning searches, running several in parallel, reading key pages, and searching again when evidence is thin, then returns an answer that ties each claim to a source URL.

Web Answer attaches as a managed connector target on an AgentCore Gateway and is called as a Model Context Protocol tool, so it works with Strands Agents, LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, and other MCP clients. Administrators can set domain include and exclude lists and publish-date filters, and calls are authorized with IAM. It is available in US East (N. Virginia) at $10 per 1,000 tool calls, plus Gateway charges.

Why Web Answer on Amazon Bedrock matters for businesses

For agencies, this is a quick way to give an agent current, cited answers, such as rebate programs, regulations, or competitor prices, without building a retrieval pipeline. Restrict domains to trusted sources for each client, log the citations with every answer, and compare cost against a plain search API if your agent asks many questions per conversation.
