Google ships Antigravity 2.0, an Antigravity CLI and SDK, and Managed Agents in the Gemini API

Google Antigravity 2.0 at a glance

At I/O 2026 Google released a standalone Antigravity 2.0 desktop app, an Antigravity CLI that Gemini CLI users are asked to move to, an Antigravity SDK, and Managed Agents that start a sandboxed agent with one Gemini API call.

What changed with Google Antigravity 2.0

Google's I/O 2026 developer announcements on May 19 expanded Antigravity, its agent-first development platform. Antigravity 2.0 is a standalone desktop app for running several agents in parallel, with dynamic subagents, scheduled background tasks and integrations with Google AI Studio, Android and Firebase. A new Antigravity CLI covers work in the terminal, and Google encouraged Gemini CLI users to migrate to it. The Antigravity SDK exposes the same agent harness so teams can define custom agents and host them on their own infrastructure.

Managed Agents in the Gemini API create, with a single call, an agent that reasons, uses tools and runs code in an isolated Linux environment. The environment persists across follow-up calls with its files and state, and agents can be extended with instructions and skills written as markdown files. They run on Gemini 3.5 Flash through the Interactions API and AI Studio. Google also added a $100-per-month Google AI Ultra plan with higher Antigravity usage limits.

Why Google Antigravity 2.0 matters for businesses

Managed sandboxes remove much of the infrastructure an agency would otherwise build to run code-executing agents for clients. Teams that standardized on Gemini CLI should plan the move to the Antigravity CLI.
