Gemini Spark at a glance
Announced at I/O 2026, Gemini Spark runs in the cloud on Gemini 3.5 and the Antigravity harness, works across Gmail, Docs and other Workspace apps, and asks before high-stakes actions. A Daily Brief agent launched too.
What changed with Gemini Spark
At Google I/O on May 19, 2026, Google introduced Gemini Spark, a personal AI agent that runs in the cloud and keeps working after you close your laptop. It is built on Gemini 3.5 and the Antigravity agent harness and connects to Workspace apps such as Gmail, Docs and Slides. Users can set recurring tasks or triggers, teach it new skills, and have it turn meeting notes from emails and chats into a Google Doc plus the email that kicks off a project. Google said it asks first before high-stakes actions such as spending money or sending email.
Spark started with trusted testers, with a beta for U.S. Google AI Ultra subscribers planned for the following week. On August 13, Google said Spark was available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in more than 160 countries and was moving to Gemini 3.7 Flash. At I/O, Google also launched Daily Brief, an opt-in agent that builds a morning digest from Gmail and Calendar for AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers starting in the U.S., and new MCP connections to Canva, OpenTable and Instacart.
Why Gemini Spark matters for businesses
Always-on consumer agents raise customer expectations: more people will hand off inbox triage, scheduling and recurring paperwork. For businesses, the MCP connections show that being reachable by personal agents is turning into a distribution channel, much like being listed in search results.
