Amazon Bedrock AgentCore at a glance

What changed with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
On December 2, 2025, AWS added new capabilities to Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, its platform for building and running agents. Policy, in preview, lets teams define in natural language which tools and data an agent may use and under what conditions, for example blocking refunds above a set amount. It runs inside AgentCore Gateway, checks each tool call in milliseconds, and works outside the agent's own code. Evaluations, also in preview, samples live interactions and scores them with 13 prebuilt evaluators for qualities such as correctness, helpfulness, tool selection, safety and goal success, plus custom evaluators.
AgentCore Memory gained episodic memory, generally available at launch, which records the context, reasoning, actions and outcomes of past tasks so agents can improve over time. AWS made Policy generally available on March 3, 2026, and its April 6, 2026 weekly roundup listed Evaluations as generally available.
Why Amazon Bedrock AgentCore matters for businesses
For agencies building client agents on AWS, these features address two common objections to production use: what stops an agent from taking a harmful action, and how you know its quality has not slipped after a model or prompt change. Rules enforced outside the model are easier to explain to a client's compliance team than prompt instructions alone.
