What it does
Plays rows of programmed steps into an instrument. The current pattern-track workflow stores steps as MIDI clips.
Add it to a track
Select a MIDI track and add this device from Library → MIDI Effects → Devices. MIDI effects transform notes before they reach the instrument.
Controls
| Control | What to listen or look for |
|---|---|
| Step | Chooses 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/8T, 1/16T or 1/32T timing. |
| Swing | Delays alternating steps; 0% is straight. |
| Gate | Sets note duration as a share of a step. |
Work with this device
Start with a short passage that represents your material. Change one control at a time. Compare at a similar listening level, using the device's power control to bypass it. Save a version of the project before making a large change.
Current behavior
Open the pattern window from this device’s Open button or overview. Device-held steps play through the song; Patterns → Move Steps to the Timeline converts them to a pattern clip. The header Step Sequencer button opens or creates a pattern track directly. Row lengths, Pitch graph, timing-shift range and Pattern playback depend on which target the window edits. Read Step Sequencer patterns before programming or converting it.
