Pitch Shifter

Add it to a track
Select the destination track, open Plugins, and choose Add Effect. Find this device in Library → Effects. Effects process the signal from the devices before them in the chain.
Controls
| Control | What to listen or look for |
|---|---|
| Shift | Moves pitch up or down in semitones. |
| Formant | Shifts the resonant character of the sound, changing vocal-like tone independently of the main pitch shift. |
| Grain | Below 1x only the loudest partials steer the shift, which is tighter and more synthetic. Above 1x the shifted spectrum is smoothed, which is softer. |
| Mode | Insert blends the shifted sound with the original through Mix. Extra keeps the original at full level and adds the shifted sound on top. |
| Fade | How slowly Shift, Formant and Wide glide to a new value. 0% jumps straight there, 100% takes about a quarter of a second to settle. |
| Wide | Detunes the left and right channels in opposite directions. 100% puts the left half a semitone down and the right half a semitone up. |
| Output | Sets the signal level leaving this stage. |
| Mix | Blends the original signal with the processed signal; 100% gives only the processed sound. |
| Preserve | Keeps the original formant character (the size and tone of the voice) when shifting pitch. Off lets the formants move with the pitch. |
Work with this device
Start with a short passage that represents your material. Change one control at a time. Compare at a similar listening level, using the device's power control to bypass it. Save a version of the project before making a large change.
