Instruments and sound storage

Choose factory synth presets and manage the storage used by installed sampled sounds.

Available in the development app

The current Mac build includes 25 original synth presets: 19 for Dawnamite Synth, four for CZ-style Synth and two for 303-style Synth. They cover Lead, Pad, Pluck, Bass and Keys. They use synthesis and do not require downloaded sample recordings.

Choose a synth sound

  1. Create or select a MIDI track and open Library.
  2. Search the preset browser by sound name or browse an instrument's presets.
  3. Load a sound and add notes to a MIDI clip, or play your controller.
  4. Adjust the synth controls and save the project. Presets for the same synth can apply in place.

The built-in General MIDI bank remains a separate private development trial. Read Licenses and acknowledgments. New sampled Piano, Guitar and Drum category instruments are not available from the Library yet.

Inspect installed storage

Open Settings with Command+comma, then select Sounds. Installed sampled sounds appear by category, largest first within each category, with sizes, descriptions, status and credits. Free disk space appears when the library uses one location. Refresh reads the inventory again.

An empty list means no sampled packs are installed in the managed library; the synth presets and General MIDI are separate. The default Mac location is ~/Library/Application Support/Dawnamite/Sounds.

Remove unused sounds

  1. Select individual sounds or use Select removable, which selects up to 256 at a time.
  2. Check the total beside Remove and open the confirmation.
  3. Review the names and sizes. Cancel leaves the files untouched.
  4. Choose Remove sound files to remove those recordings. The list refreshes and reports any errors.

Removal does not delete projects or their instrument settings. A project needing a removed sound requires the original files reinstalled. Automatic reinstall and download controls are not implemented yet. Listed sizes count sound files; disk space reclaimed can differ.

Protected sounds

Loaded sounds and their shared sample sources stay protected while a project uses them. Close the project, allow the sound to unload, then Refresh. Bundled content and linked or special files are protected too. If files changed after selection, refresh and select them again. The built-in General MIDI bank cannot be removed here.

Read credits

Open Help & Documentation → Sound Credits from the app menu. Installed sounds also have a Credits disclosure in Settings → Sounds. The website credits, app screen and bundle sound notices use shared generated records.

Planned packs

The starter set is being designed to stay under 1 GB. Additional free .dawnamitesounds packs are planned for Grand Pianos, Vintage Keys, Guitars & Basses, Orchestra, Drums Pro, Percussion & Latin, and Mallets & World. Harpsichord, Funk Kit and Synth Clav are also planned outside the starter cap.

Packs, starter installation, new sampled category selectors and the signed download catalogue are not released. Sound preparation, listening, streaming performance and distribution checks remain open. No download links are provided. When available, the app and website will use the same catalogue with actual sizes, sound lists and applicable credits.
